Sheri and I are very excited about this upcoming trip! We have designed it for those who enjoy exploring the vitality of this planet and the spirit of self. Join us on the exotic island of Sao Miguel where we will connect with the earth, sea and sky while navigating our own natural rhythms through movement and yoga. Limited to an intimate group of eight women, this cultural adventure captures the essence of our inherent connection to earth and her diversity.
This small island is yet to be discovered by the masses, so remains untouched in many areas. We have carefully curated a balanced itinerary for you, from days of hiking to epic overlooks to evenings of relaxing with fine local organic foods and wines. Our private villa will be home for our group for the entire stay.
If you have traveled with me in past trips, you have experienced the flexibility that I offer within the itinerary proposed at the onset. The outline below that is somewhat dependent on the weather, as well as the energy level of each individual. There may be times when we split the group and take different paths. Your enjoyment is my number one objective, as it is my belief that when traveling to a new destination you get the most out of the culture you are immersed in. I encourage staying true to your own beat, while tempting you to step out of your comfort zone, for this is where we have the opportunity to embrace life at it's greatest.
ABOUT THE AZORES-
The Azores, an autonomous region of Portugal, are an archipelago of 9 islands in the mid-Atlantic located one third the distance between Portugal and the east coast of America. The flight from Boston is a 4.5 hr direct flight into Sao Miguel where we will be staying. The islands are characterized by dramatic landscapes, fishing villages, green pastures and hedgerows of blue hydrangeas. São Miguel, the largest island, has a coastline of dramatic sea cliffs and headlands, lake-filled calderas and hiking trails boasting epic views. The historic town of Ponta Delgada is characterized by cobble lanes, splendid palaces, Baroque mansions and 16th century churches. The average daytime temperature in May will range from mid 70's, dropping to the low to mid 50's in the evenings

6 days, 5 nights-May 10th -16th 2019
Day 1- Friday, May 10th Direct flights from Boston to Sao Miguel arrive at 6am. This first day will offer options for relaxation to adjust to the time change. Relax by the pool at our villa, take a stroll into the town of Ponta Delgata, or spend it meeting your fellow travelers you will be sharing your time with. Sheri will lead a grounding flow class for recuperating from the flight. Rested and energized, we will head into town for Azorian Cuisine.
Day 2 Saturday May 11th: Morning yoga/movement followed by a healthy breakfast . Today we will begin our exploration of the Island of Sao Miguel accompanied by our guide who will take us to Lagoa das Sete Cidades (lagoon of the seven cities) considered one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal. We will incorporate time for a short hike during this full day tour. We will stop for Lunch along the way. In the afternoon we may venture to another scenic location, or possibly hang out in one of the islands small villages... we can make the decision together! A lovely dinner with local wine tastings will await us at the villa prepared by our private chef!
Day 3 Sunday May 12: Morning yoga/movement followed by healthy breakfast. Starting mid morning, we will spend another day in nature, possibly taking a long guided hike to see some of the best parts of the island by foot! We will create this day based on the rhythm our group. Before heading back to the villa to get ready for dinner, we will visit one of the many rich mineral thermal springs for a healing soak!
Day 4 Monday May 13th: morning yoga/ movement followed by healthy breakfast. Today we will venture to Swim with Dolphins! Wet suits will be provided if the water is cool. This 2-3 hour excursion will be the highlight of our day, leaving time for afternoon yoga around or in the pool. For dinner, we will head out into the town of Ponta Delgata where everyone can chose a restaurant of their choice and spend the evening as they like.
Day 5 Tuesday May 14th: Morning yoga/movement followed by healthy breakfast. This is our last FULL day together so we will create a day that makes everyone happy. We will have our own van, so it may be a day we wander and explore, stopping to hike, sit in hot springs, shop or sip wine.... (or all of that!) The rhythm of the group will dictate how it unfolds. Our last evening will be spent together sharing a meal prepared by our private chef.
Day 6 Wednesday May 15th: Morning yoga/ movement and group breakfast. Checking out of our villa at 10 am, this day is dependent on your flight schedule. We will work on this when we have everyone's departure times.

I first met Sheri in a Mysore Ashtanga class at Innerlight back in 1998. We immediately became soul sisters and have been practicing together ever since. She is a creative, calming and centered woman. Sheri has spent hundreds of hours training and teaching over the past 20 years. She has an eclectic and playful style that she brings to the mat.
